Meet Our Pastor

Dr. Robert B Peacock

Pastor Peacock was born in Dublin Ga., in Aug. 1952. He grew up in Savannah and has lived here most of his life.

He met his wife, Brenda, in 1968 and they were married in June of 1971. He began attending church with her at DeRenne Ave. Baptist Church. It was here that he began his Christian journey.

Pastor and Mrs. Peacock have three daughters (Jennifer, Jessica, and Janet) and five grand children (Jacob, Thomas, Kaylee, Maddie and Benjamin). All three of their daughters are married. Jennifer married Wayne Wells in 1994, Jessica married Brad Farmer in 2005, and Janet married Matt Jeffcoat in 2004. All three of their children and their families attend Southwest Baptist Church and are very active in the ministry.

Pastor Peacock was saved in January, 1973. He surrendered to preach in 1975 at the Georgia Baptist Bible Fellowship youth camp and started Bible college in the fall. He graduated with a Graduate of Theology Degree in December of 1977.

After graduation he became the youth and music minister of Temple Baptist Church in Orlando, FL. After a short stay there, Pastor Peacock was asked to return to his home church to become the youth pastor and the administrator of their Christian School. In January of 1980, he was called as pastor.

In 1983, DeRenne Ave. Baptist Church relocated to the Silk Hope Community in Savannah and changed its name to Pineland Baptist Church. Pastor Peacock pastored Pineland Baptist Church for 21 years. While pastoring Pineland, he began working on his Master and Doctorate Degrees from Covington Theological Seminary. He graduated Suma Cum Laude in both degrees.

In May of 2004, the Lord led Pastor Peacock to start Southwest Baptist Church. The Church organized in November of 2004.
